Worship Services

Worship is the single most important act of human existence. Worship means "worth." We worship whatever has ultimate worth and value in our lives.

True worship is not measured by style, location, or methodology. True worship happens when Spirit touches spirit. When God's Spirit touches human spirit, people become aware of the reality of God's presence and they recommit themselves to live lifestyles of Godly integrity. Priorities are realigned. Ultimate values are clarified and reaffirmed. The answers to life's basic questions--Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going?--are brought to a fully conscious level in our thinking. Worship is a movement from illusion to reality. We are reminded that there is a God and that we are not God. We cannot live by bread alone--but must depend upon every word that comes from God's mouth. Every moment of life is a gift from God's hand, and we can only find fulfillment as we live each moment in God's hand. Spirit (presence) and Truth (integrity) are what we gather to remember each week.

Reality check: True worship shakes our world view and reminds us of the radical, counter-culture values of the Kingdom of God. We are reminded that the core of life is not matter but Spirit.

Faith and focus: Effective worship brings us to that "ah ha!" moment. Worship restores the "wow" factor in our lives. This is what life is all about! It's not running the rat race at an ever-increasing pace or owning a bigger house or more expensive car; wearing designer clothes or retiring at age 50. Life is found in Jesus Christ ... It's about living God's purpose. . . serving people. . . and keeping my promises.

Oh, how easy it is to forget these truths during the drop-dead deadlines of the work week, family time demands, and ever-increasing economic challenges of life after the dawn of a new millennium!

When God's Spirit touches the spirit, we are reminded that success does not necessarily equal wholeness. True worship is Spirit touching spirit. Worship happens when the presence of God is bridged with people's real-life needs in a real-life context.

Church at Pentecost

At St. Luke's, from September through June of each year, we offer multipledifferent times and style where God's Spirit can connect with yours:

Sunday   8:30 AM -  9:00 AM : Holy Eucharist - This service will offer a variety of services, from traditional  Episcopal Prayer Book Eucharist to Communion styled after the New Zealand Prayer Book Services to services conducted according to the Lutheran Book of Worship. Whichever Sunday you arrive, you will find the feel of the service to be informal, quiet and inviting. It is designed to be open to those who have not regularly attended church as well as regular attendees.  The weekly Messages (sermons) will be tailored for those who want to grow in their faith or delve deeper into the teachings of God in the Bible.

Sunday 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM : Holy Eucharist & Sunday School - This is a choral Eucharist Service that uses the 1979 Book of Common Prayer Rites for Holy Communion. Our choirs sings accompaniment to our pipe organ during weekly services; we also have special musical presentations from guest instrumentalists at this service. Sunday School is offered from September through June for elementary and preschool age children during the first part of this service; the children then rejoin their families for communion. Fellowship time for young and old and an Adult Forum time follow this service.

Monday-Thursday - 5 PM - Evening Prayer

This 20-minute service of prayers for daily use is a nice way to end the day (or refuel for the next few hours!).  Come and thank God for the day.

Wednesday - 7:30 PM - Holy Eucharist & Healing

This is a quiet service with prayers for ourselves and others, and laying on of hands for those who desire it. All are welcome.
